Biogeochemistry & Earth Science Department


Technicians Grade D / Grade E, depending on qualifications and experience.

Salary:£18,289 - £21,656 (Grade D) £22,296 - £25,137 (Grade E)



Applications are invited for 2 Research Technicians to work within a team of technical staff providing technical support to the Biogeochemistry & Earth Science Department. As part of the team, you will be involved in analysing marine samples and providing quality controlled data.



We are looking for individuals with experience in analytical science and working with analytical instrumentation. Knowledge of analytical, radiochemical or environmental chemistry would be advantageous although specific training will be provided, if required. Applicants should demonstrate good technical ability combined with an interest in the marine environment and be willing to be involved in field work where required.

Laboratory Technician – Fixed Term Appointment – 12 months

Technician Grade B / Grade C, depending on qualifications and experience.

Salary: £14,717 - £15,491 (Grade B) £15,952 - £17,753 (Grade C)



As part of the ongoing development of the Biogeochemistry and Earth Science Department, we have established a new marine sensor facility and are now seeking to employ a Laboratory Technician to support the work of this facility.



The principal duties of this post will involve the construction and maintenance of micro sensors and the establishment of simple experimental set-ups. There may also be opportunities to participate in fieldwork. We are seeking a conscientious and self motivated individual with an interest in Marine technology, excellent technical skills and ability to carry out simple chemical analysis techniques, although training will be provided.
